About This Grant
Qualification Criteria: - Establishment must be located within the Montréal Urban Agglomeration in an area designated by the Executive Committee as affected by major construction. - Must be providing retail sales, product rentals, or consumer services (excluding professional, scientific, technical, financial, insurance, health care, social assistance, and real estate services, except for interior design, photographic, and day-care services). - Must have already been in operation before the construction project began. - Must demonstrate a decrease of more than 5% in gross profit during the fiscal year(s) in which construction took place, compared to pre-construction years. - The business must not have ceased operations or gone bankrupt within 40 days of submitting its application. Qualifying Projects: - The program itself does not fund a project, but compensates for financial loss caused by major public infrastructure projects. - Eligible construction projects must be carried out by Montréal, a related city, or the STM (Société de transport de Montréal). - The construction work must have a minimum duration of six months and must cause traffic jams in the eligible area. - The subsidy is calculated based on the reduction in the business’s gross profit (the first 5% of lost profit is not covered). Additional Details: - Financial assistance is available up to a maximum of $40,000 CAD per fiscal year for the main program. - Businesses can choose to file a separate request for each eligible fiscal year or make a single request covering all applicable fiscal years at the end of a project. - A separate, lump-sum subsidy of $5,000 CAD is also offered to qualifying businesses affected by major projects, which does not require proof of lost profit and can be paid at the beginning of the project. - Applications must be submitted within a limited time after completion of the work. - Extensive documentation is required, including financial statements, tax returns, notices of assessment, and company status information from the Registre des entreprises du Québec.
